Need (Compatibility & +) Advice W/ ASUS P8Z68-V LE

Any advice is welcome. My budget is not exact trying to just go for the best "Bang-for-my-Buck". Thanks :)
Purpose of Use: Gaming

Not looking to have the best PC ever just trying to get something that will efficiently run all/most games with high qualities and up.

I am pretty set on the Video Card(GTX 560Ti) and the CPU(i5 2500k). Those two are plenty of power for me especially the CPU if I wanted(and probably will) overclock it. I'm not very handy with overclocking have never tried it before although I most certainly will being looking into it and testing it with the subjective items.

SSD/Hard drive:
I already have a 500gb Hard drive from my 4yr old pc. I had considered a small SSD drive to place my OS on it(Possibly a game as i hear that will enhance response). Not sure what type of sizes I would need to place an OS on it.

Case+Cooling:
I also have not picked out a Case(Would need to be ATX because of the mother board) and Style of cooling. I am uncertain what kind of cooling or fans I would need to place in a machine with these components. Although I'm sure the 800watts can support some strong fans. (Again if a water cooling is unnecessary then i would choose to stay away from it as I'm sure it is more pricey and I have no idea on how you install that type of cooling)

Drives:
I do have 2 CD/DVD drives(one burns) that I'm not worried about as i'm sure can transfer over fine.

Audio Card:
Believe my mother board has a stock card so that is fine enough with me.

Input/Output Devices:
Have all of these, Monitor/mouse/headset etc.

I'm here for some advice and some answers to questions.

Questions:
1.) Compatibility. I've looked into it and the items I listed i do believe are all compatible.

2.) My Ram sticks that i selected are XMP. How do I find out if my motherboard will Allow XMP; is it standard that they all do?If so or if not is mine compatible with XMP?

I think you should look into Water Cooling for this rig. Though you need to start picking a Full Tower with GOOD airflow also. I can't stress Cooling enough when it comes to overclocking your system; Even if your Ocing just a little bit. Just my 2 cents
 
Using an open box MB is asking for trouble.

The PSU is OK but there are many better ones and you do not need anywhere near that wattage. Fans pull on average around 2W, at the most about 6W each.

XMP is supported by all boards that you might consider. Be aware that the memory controller resides on the CPU however, and any RAM over 1333 CL9 technically voids the warranty. This can be gotten around risk free by purchasing overclocking insurance from Intel for $20.

Water cooling is only for those with experience and know-how, and requires a good bit of research. It is also completely unneeded on SB processors because they do not run so hot.

You have not given a budget.

I'm going to go ahead and take you suggestion on the tower and CPU cooler and add those two to my purchase list.

However in regards to the mother board I have no intentions of SLI or CF any time soon as 2 $230 cards are a bit too much for me when Im sure i can run everything fine although it is something i may look into in the future. This mother board does lack the O.C. 2200 that the Asus has and the on bored 3.0 USB (which i don't know what I would use that for) it does have some in the back, saw in feedback some people didn't like it missing from onboard. I'm willing to go up to around $150 for a mother board.

Hmmm.. I'm gunna do some more search for a motherboard w/ SLI (Since ill be using Nvidia which i believe is SLI) capabilities and still has everything else needed(Such as good OC for RAM)


Question about the PSU:
The PSU (Antec) that you had linked gives 50 less watts than the one I had chosen. They are however set at the same price ( And actually today is the last day i have a code for 20% off all Rosewill PSUs so the 800watt PSU would be cheaper I believe, and already is on a larger discount from the normal $150).
With them being at the same price wouldn't I want the one with more watts even though I may not need it all at the start?

The 2nd question about the PSU is: the Rosewill one is "Certified" while the Antec you linked was "Bronze Certified", which one is better? and what does this certification do?

My last question is about the Intel over clocking insurance you suggested. I didn't know Intel offered this but that seems like a great idea and I will most certainly get this. So my question about this is; Do I contact Intel personally or do can i purchase this warranty through new egg upon purchase of my parts. And does this warranty only portray to my RAM that u suggested getting it for? or will it work with all parts that I overclock?

1. Overclocking the memory controller on the CPU to anything that high is asking for trouble again. See the Guide to Choosing Parts linked in my sig for more info and a link to the Intel insurance.

2. USB 3.0 is the most useful thing to get on a new motherboard. Transfers of data over USB 3.0 devices is faster, often even if the device is USB 2.0. If you want a board with a USB header for a front port, you would need a case capable of connecting to it.

On the PSU, I have covered that very completely in the PSU guide also linked in my sig, in language that is easy to understand. So, you'll forgive me if I don't repeat myself here :)
 
On the PSU recommendations, I just checked my mail and saw the 20% off coupon.

The Rosewill Capstone is one of the best PSUs you can buy. It's made by SuperFlower, which is about the only company that currently competes on the high end with Seasonic, the other major OEM.

Wow first off great work on your guides I read both choosing parts and PSU Guide very well done.

I see the efficiency level is much higher for your RoseWill Capstone PSU so I'm going to go ahead and switch over to that. It's certainly worth only $20 more if it is a better PSU.

In regards to SLI Sorry for not making up my mind but I'll go ahead and say Yes I do intend to SLI 560Ti. Would this Change anything?

I tried to find an appropriate and safe level for Overclocking the memory controller in the CPU I was unsuccessful.
 
The whole memory thing is very new, and we don't have a lot of hard info. Up until recently we didn't think memory frequency or latency had any impact on the CPU... but we are getting a different story from Intel Support.
Is it really just voltage to the memory and voltage to the CPU memory controller that is an issue? Are they just being overly cautious by stipulating that 1600Mhz (even at 1.5V) and more is an overclock?
Those are questions we are still hoping to get an answer for. In the mean time, you need to understand that memory speed makes almost no difference in gaming. At lower resolutions it may make a difference of two FPS... but we are talking about 121 or 123 FPS at that point, a meaningless difference.
When the load comes on, and you are looking at staying above 30 FPS so that your games look smooth, system memory speed plays absolutely no role. 1333Mhz will work just like 1866Mhz.

Yeah wow not much of an fps difference suppose only would effect the loading but I'm not picky i have plenty of power here to work with as it just don't wanna miss out on anything when i find out in the future should of taken a different route.

Thanks for the new mother board and case suggestion I do like the USB 3.0 on the front. But does this mother board have enough 2.0 AND 3.0 internals to connect to the front? (Would need two of each?) I am not sure what the socket is called that the USB connectors would go in.( or if i would need 2 for each or does the cable splice)

Other than that I only have 2 more questions.... I think 😛

Do I need to purchase any additional Fans to place inside the case or will the ones that come with it be sufficient enough?

Do you suggest getting a small SSD Drive to place my OS and frequently used Games on? (or even just 1 game (bf3) bc of large usage) I currently have a 500gb HD
 
One USB header supplies two USB ports, so you are fine there. No board has more than one USB 3.0 header, as far as I know.

You can upgrade with a third fan in that case. Probably not completely needed for now but if you add a second GPU definitely

Hmmm the choices, all the same so i guess im picking for looks. ha not sure if any brands are better than other So I think ill pick the G.Skill i think theyre orange from what i got from googling it. and if my fan is red why not its close. 2nd i would of picked the corsair though.

Hmmm i watched the Newegg video on the mother board and it only shows 1 front panel 3.0 USB, My case would have 2 3.0 USB. Could this be an issue?

Wouldn't i need two front panel 3.0USB ports On the MB ?
 
Also a quick question it says when you go to SLI the PCI sockets both switch to 8x rather than the normal 16x when you have one in. Is this okay or should i look for something that could host 2 of them at 16x?
 
I answered that question above. One header serves two ports. No boards have more than one internal header.

All Socket 1155 boards are limited to that. It makes no real difference in performance, your cards will be just fine at x8.

My issue is they had already gone ahead and purchased the first 850watt power supply.

I feel bad and don't want them to return it also it is 50 dollars cheaper than the 2nd one(counting 20% discount that WAS going on)

Can i still run this build off of the first linked 850watt power supply efficiently and not run into any issues?

Concerns were this one has 4 rails and the 2nd one has 1 rail. Heard these have no effect but also sometimes of of the rails is used more than others that can cause an issue?

Help! i'm not sure what to tell her and the Power supply should arrive by tomorrow. If the supply can works i will just stay with it. if not i'll have to go and see if new egg does have a return policy and spend an extra 50 for the 2nd one.
