need computer for filmaking

My teen bought some expensive film editing and filmmaking software and our laptop and pc don't have enough gpu and cpu. what should we buy? The guy at radio shack said don't get an intel processor.

The guy at Radio Shack is trained to put boxes on the shelf and give change. I'm not sure how much he knows about CPUs. His advice is weird.

If you can afford expensive hardware for your expensive software, look at the Intel (LOL, yes Intel) i7-4930k. It's going to make you more productive than any other CPU around.

Tell us your desktop's specs - motherboard, cpu, ram, psu. Maybe you can just drop a new CPU in the existing motherboard and keep the upgrade costs low.
