Hi Everyone,

I have been saving up for years to buy a really awesome pc and I wanted to know what your opinions are on some of the options that I've chosen and what ideas you may have to better improve the system. I've spent weeks sorting through what I should put into it and this is what I've come up with so far;

Ram:
[strike]Crucial 16GB Kit (4GBx4) DDR4 2133 MT/s (PC4-17000) CL15 SR x8 Unbuffered DIMM 288-Pin Desktop Memory CT4K4G4DFS8213 [/strike]
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (4GBx4) DDR4 2400 MT/s

Optical Drive:
ASUS BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS 12X Blu-ray Internal Burner Drive with Disc Encryption

Case:
Cooler Master HAF X - Full Tower Computer Case with High Airflow Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0

CPU:
Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor

MotherBoard:
[strike]ASUS ATX DDR4 3000 (O.C.) Motherboard X99-DELUXE[/strike]
ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME, Extended ATX x99 Motherboard , LGA 2011-V3 Socket, DDR4 3300Mhz+(OC)

CPU Cooler:
[strike]Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) [/strike]
Noctua NH-D15

Hardrives:
2 x Western Digital 4 TB Green SATA III 5400 RPM 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM (Storage)
1 x Intel 520 Series Solid-State Drive 120 GB SATA 6 Gb/s 2.5-Inch (For OS)
1 x ASUS ROG RAIDR Express PCI-E 240GB PCIe 2.0 x 2 MLC Internal Solid State Drive

GPU:
[strike]2 x EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN Black with G-Sync Support 6GB GDDR5 384Bit Graphics Card Dual-Link DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DP SLI [/strike]
2 x GTX 980 Geforce

Power Supply:
[strike]Corsair RM Series 1000 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified Power Supply [/strike]
SILVERSTONE ST1500 1500W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V SLI 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Monitor:
Samsung 28-Inch Ultra High Definition LED Monitor

I will appreciate any advice you guys can give me.

YEP 4K will be fine
but 60 fps on ultra settings is quite doubtful
you could adjust between high to med to achieve 60 fps

I thought of the 980 but from what I understand it is only about 10% - 25% faster than the TITAN whereas the Titan has 2 more gigs of memory. From other forums I've seen people are saying they can easily reach between 2 - 3 gigs when playing Battle Field 4 or Tomb Raider on Full Graphics. Seeing as how the 980 only has about 4 gigs I am not sure as to whether it will be the better choice for future games that are taking up more and more VRAM.
Can you go into further detail as to why the 980's would be better though as I am still not sure myself as to which one to get.
Also for the PSU, 850 watts may not be enough to operate everything as the cooler master case alone has many fan equipped with it that will take up alot of wattage. Do you know any other quality PSUs that have 1,000 Wats and over?

Thanks for the reply.
What PSU would you recommend I get if you don't mind me asking.
Also are the GTX 980's that much better than the TITAN for gaming as I am looking for durability as I do not want to have to upgrade for another 5 yrs or so.

A SINGLE GTX 980 IS ENOUGH FOR PLAYING ANY MODERN OR UP COMING GAMES YOU THROW AT IT WITH MAX SETTINGS LEAVE THE SLI PART.
GTX 980 IS 550$ AND TITAN BLACK IS 1000 $ SO ALMOST DOUBLE 2 CARDS WILL COST YOU 2000$ WHERE AS 2X 980 WILL COST YOU 1100$ SO YOU CAN DO A 4 WAY SLI WITH THE SAME COST WITH GTX 980.

if your'e looking for a GPU that doesnt need a upgrade for 5 yrs than GTX 980 is the graphics card you should buy
cause it supports dx12

That is a good idea and definitely will be easier on the wallet lol but from what I understand it does not matter how many GPU's I have, the VRAM will always remain the same amongst all of them. That means if I have 1 GTX 980 or if I have 4 GTX 980's I will still only be limited to 4 Gigs of VRAM.
My concern is in the next year or 2 years when newer 4k games come out, will the GTX 980's have enough VRAM to play them at Full Ultra Graphics.

Alright I think I'll change it to the GTX 980's instead. But what is the difference between overclocked and superclocked?
I ask because I am seeing several different types on amazon with those words and varying price ranges.

Super clocked is the same as overclocked - this means the graphics card have been tweaked by the manufacturer to increase its performance.
It will work faster and produce more clock cycles per second; hence the name "overclocking".

I see.
Okay I have another question then.
If for whatever reason I have to do a factory reset on my computer, will that erase the Overclock (I assume it is a software thing) from the GPU?
And secondly will I be able to overclock a normal 980 with software?

YES you can oc any GPU with software many brands have their software like msi has msi afterburner , sapphire has saphire trix , zotac has firestorm for overclocking but you can use the msi afterburner with asus or sapphire or vice verse.

And resetting the motherboard BIOS will not change the GPU OC settings it will only affect the RAM and CPU oc settings.

Ah alright, so I guess I can buy the normal GTX 980's and OC them myself?
Instead of paying an additional $150.00 to have them OCed

I plan to use this to cool the CPU:
Additional Fan:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2

If you have any other suggestions I'm all ears, that was the purpose of this thread ^_^

OC cards come with a greater capability to give higher clock frequencies
That's why the OC version is priced higher than the normal version
second - if you overclock the normal version than it will produce much heat than the oc edition

Oh I see.
Thanks for that lol.
I'll be sure to get the OC version then ^_^
I know it costs more but as I stated before, I've been saving a LONG time for this pc (about 5 years).

Do not get a hyper 212 evo for a processor like that. Get a noctua nhd15 (best air cooler) or a nepton 280l (best aio cooler imo) Dont get an extreme cpu with flagship cards and ddr4 memory with a god damn 20 dollar cooler

Thanks for that. I decided to go with the Corsair Hydro Series H105 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler. Will this be fine or should I get the noctua nhd 15?

Thanks for everything you have been quite helpful and I really appreciate it 😀
