I'm thinking of getting one of those new GTX 970s for Christmas. at the moment you can get an overclocked one for 350$ on amazon. I have a 600 watt power supply and a FX 6300 overclocked to 4.2 GHz (4.16 GHz exactly). I heard that an overclocked FX 6300 shouldn't cause any bottlenecks. Is 4.2 GHz high enough and do you think I might run into trouble with my power supply?(I currently use a GTX 760 which apparently consumes more power and many people recommend 500 watt PSUs for that.)
Thank you for reading this lengthy question. I am grateful for any advice except people telling me to upgrade to an Intel CPU because A: I can't afford a new GPU and a CPU. B: I would have to go with a new motherboard and maybe even a higher PSU as well.
Just a note: my CPU temps are great, 12-22 Celsius, so I have room to Overclock further in that regard
