With it being an old dual core 6000+ Amd and integrated ATI 1200 graphics and 1gb DDR2 memory the best option for you would be to completely start over with a fresh build. Don't bother throwing money at a computer that old it isn't worth it and could be better saved for a new build.

Here are some build guide videos by Newegg.

Places to get PC parts- http://www.newegg.com/ or http://www.ncixus.com/

What kind of performance do you need? Are you playing video...
i suppose you have 2x512mb ram since they run in dual channel mode. check your mobo if it has free ram slots to install additional 2x512 to reach 2gb of total ram.http://pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-memory-ct2cp6464aa667 it will enhance your internet sufring ability and allow more tabs open on the web explorer (on windows 7) you pc is rather old and in older to upgrade you need to change all (cpu-mobo-ram-gpu) cause no current hardware is practically compatible with yours.

Comments on this build-
For more performance get a better APU for about 110 bucks instead of $45, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113333
and buy faster Ram-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104297

I would recommend this build over an Intel build that uses the on board graphics as the AMD APU graphics are better.

If you want a graphics card for more performance change the following:
get a 650W power supply (by seasonic or corsair), an Intel cpu and Intel socketed motherboard or an AMD AM3+ motherboard with an AMD AM3+ CPU. Also at this stage consider an after market heat sink fan for the CPU.

You can reuse your monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers and maybe your old builds optical drive if it has a sata connector and maybe your old hard drive.
