Hello everyone,

I am a new PC user and I need some advice on choosing a monitor for my mini PC. The mini PC I have selected is the Beelink SER6, which fits my budget.

For the monitor, I am considering the KTC 24" 165Hz Gaming Monitor. It features FHD (1920x1080p) resolution, a 1ms response time, and is compatible with FreeSync and G-Sync. It also includes MPRT, HDR10, 125% sRGB, HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, headphone support, eye care technology, VESA support, tilt functionality, and a fast IPS panel.

I found it on Amazon, but living in the UAE, it can be challenging to find good budget monitors here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there,

Okay, so firstly, you will really need to temper your expectations of what that system can do in terms of gaming.

In terms of specs, well, it's not great. The panel uses ELED, which is edge lit backlighting. This can give you light bleed from the sides of the monitor and also top and bottom. It's lke a little odd glow from the sides. It's not pleasant.

With a peak brightness of 305 nits, this monitor is not capable of HDR10. It's either some gimmick to give some HDR signal, or completely untrue that it supports HDR10.

If it were me, personally, I would not get this monitor. It looks good, but performs badly.

What is your budget, and where can you shop from?

Getting back to my first point. Your CPU/APU has a Radeon 680m iGPU. It is just about strong enough to hit 1080p on some games, with low settings. This is just to be playable. You may actually have to drop back to 720p to get decent frames so that your games aren't a stuttery mess.

Edit: The panel is at least IPS, so good colours and fast enough response time.
