Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week (the closer the better)

Budget Range: 6-7k euros with shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: (e.g.: Folding@Home, gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies) : Im using it for anything, video editing, 4k gaming, VR gaming, Browsing alot of tabs, movies.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: It's going to be a new build.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: www.Alternate.com www.computerstore.nl https://azerty.nl/ i am considering a building site since i am no longer handy with making my own builds. a example of the site i mean is : https://www.arcticsecrets.nl/game-pc

Location: City, State/Region, Country - The Netherlands

Parts Preferences: by brand or type: i do not care about brand, as long as the quality is what's neccesary to create this well performing build is up to par.

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Yes

Your Monitor Resolution: 4K hd and under.

Additional Comments: (e.g.: Need to have a window and lots of bling, I would like a quiet PC. Please also list specific software or games you're using) Im going for the newest games, VR technology and 4k gaming. i also will make use of video editing software. I would like a pc that's not too loud but completely silent is not neccesary if that means it will lose performance. I do like bling on the computer so i'd prefer led and a side panel window, which i am already looking for. I like small tech luxury stuff.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Because i've always dreamed about creating a beast pc that's overkill to the max just for the sake of it, of course i prefer to get the best performance for the best deal as i do not burn through money if i could for example buy a version that basically will do the same but 2% less which does not matter in the slightest.

I've already compiled two builds as an example of what im aiming for but i'd love feedback as i am not as knowledgable about hardware as i used to be

Builds:

CoolerMaster Mastercase maker 5T
i7-6950X
Asus Rampage V Edition 10 X99
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 LED 3000MHZ 32GB Rood
1200W Corsair AX1200i

Im definetly going for watercooling.

Well when it comes to video editing and photoshop it looks like those CPUs are on par with each other so in that department you can choose either or. The 6950x is better at it when overclocked though so if you're planning on overclocking it'd be the way to go.
I'd say what you've chose is probably the best you can get really. Not to sure about the CPUs there really cause the 6950x is a bit faster than Ryzen I believe but not by too much even though it costs more than double the price but ya know its up to you whether you want to spend that extra 1k for the small-moderate amount of improvement. Maybe if you're planning to overclock then it'll be worth it. Also those cases you've chosen seem to be mid-tower cases, it'd be best to get a full tower for optimal cooling, especially for how much you're shoving into it.

Thanks for the input. Im wondering though, i do think the ryzen build would be the best one for it then since i am not a madman that goes 1000 euro extra for a little bit of extra juice but in my ryzen build my motherboard is not the extreme edition i have in my intel build cause it does not fit, im wondering if that mobo is sufficient enough or it could be better

Hmm well I think that motherboard will be alright but on the site I'm looking at it apparently doesn't support water cooling. I might be wrong or I'm reading it wrong but if it is what it is then you'll probably need a different ryzen motherboard. You might just want to do a little research on that one just to make sure. Aside from that it should be good.

Straight from the MSI website:

Fair enough, for some reason on Scan.co.uk it says in the specs at the bottom "water cooled" and an X next to it, must mean something else then.

So opinions are a bit divided between the i7 and ryzen, ive heard tyzen had performance issues cause the devs have yet to optimalise it for the architecture but the i7 is practically older. i find this a really hard decision 😛

Just go with the i7 then, you'll want all the speed you can get if you're going for an ultimate pc. Even my i7 7700k is a bit bumpy when it comes to stuff like MMO games so a 6950x probably blows that out of the park. Only problem is you might want to overclock it for optimal performance.

The 6950x is actually slower in games than the 7700k believe it or not. I've seen direct comparisons on more than a few sites and youtube vids and it seems that the 6950x is geared more toward multithreaded tasks rather than single core performance much like Ryzen.

While I'm a self admitted AMD fanboy, mainly to support competition and underdogs, I'd have to go with Intel if you want nothing more than a true gaming rig. If you're not doing any video editing or photoshop programs that rely heavily on multi core and multithreaded applications you'll want what Intel provides, and that's higher clock speeds and greater IPC.
