...I might relook the ram if I go with the Abit, but the Asus I originaly had selected has a problem with Ram that runs at a higher voltage then it's 1.8v before you bring up the voltage. To the point that you need a 1.8v ram in it befor you rase the voltage for the ram.
All P965 motherboards released around the Conroe launch had the same memory sensitivity issues. They have since been fixed through BIOS updates/revisions. Do not use early reviews or customer bitches about P965 motherboard problems as selection criteria. The ram I listed (both Kingston or Corsair) will work fine. The Corsair can overclock, the Kingston should not be. Visit the OC section of this forum to get more info on what to buy should you be serious about overclocking.

I'll check it out, If the bios thing has been fixed then the ABIT AB9 will probably be my best bet, but I might go with the Asus if the voltage problem is no longer an issue.

As for stating the obvious, do not buy any integrated graphics motherboard OR any Intel brand board if you really want to overclock.
Agreed. I'm being picky because of the last mobo I picked.

This seems to be a better liked type: http://www.dealsurprise.com/syseatasatoi.html
FWIW, I bought this Syba SATA-PATA converter dongle. I think it's the same one you pointed at, only a few bucks cheaper. Mine came with the Sil 3611 chipset and I have had problems with it.

So far I've had much better luck with this Sil 3811 based converter dongle. It looks like essentially the same circuit board, just a newer (possibly) chipset and lacking the nice plastic case.

Yea you can bring the RAM over 1.8V without any trouble. But watch it if your doing that. You'll be in testing/overclocking mode and be prepared for instability or zero post.

OCZ memory actually is guaranteed to run at certain voltages without voiding the warranty. They are designed to overclock to a certain limit safely. Check it out. OCZ is my fav memory manufacturer.

I'd go Abit and OCZ. Hasn't let me down yet. I've been using Abit since the first boards came on the market in 1997. I've been a fan ever since and they switched me over from Asus at the time. I was also hooked on OCZ the minute they came to market several years back. But memory manufacture is lest important than motherboard. Choose your board wisely.

I have come across this one before I will keep that in mind if I don add an IDE card and just go with a dongle (Just in case I want to move the drive from new computer to new computer. 😛)

I would Like to get OCZ ram or cross hair, but none run at 1.8v that I have found.

So my big question is, will I be able to get past post and get into the Bios with a Ram that is desinded to run at 1.9v or 2.0v PC6400 on a Abit AB9 and/or a Asus p5b-e runing for the first time with default settings?

The reason why I ask is with the p5b-e a customer had to have another stick of ram to change the voltage for the ram on the board bbefore ti would work, and I would perfure not to have to buy more ram to do this.

The ram issue is the only real issue I have found with these Mobos, other then the XP install has issues with install, and these have been the best about it so far.

I think I'm happy for now. IF I desided to over clock then that will be latter, so by then when I know the Bios will handle higher voltage memory, I get the better performing memory.

Looks good.

Is that monitor widescreen? I'm to lazty to look it up on samsung. If not I'd recommend going widescreen. Most new games support widescreen and its great for the movies.

No, Box, but it's 4" bigger then I'm use too, and I feel better using a box screen. I really picked this tho, because of price, warranty, rating, and options. It just fit what I needed better.

I just got the monitor and hooked it up to my old computer, and all I can say is BEAUTIFUL!! As Long as it doesn't crap out on me, it is worth every penny.

Just found out today that the Sapphire X1950XT takes a 6-pin pci express power connector. 😳 This was not indicated on the box, with the description or even on the web sites of Sapphire and ATI in there FAQs. Even the warning label in the box, on the plastic coving the card holding the package closed, only showed and said a four pin HDD connector was needed, as a warning. :x The only place I could find this issue, was in the Forums for Sapphire, were others had complained about it. I thought that an adaptor might work, but that was quickly shot down by one of the threads explaining that that would damage the card, because of the lack of adequate power. So I just refused delivery on the power supply Spire SP-ATX-600W™ RockeTeer IV 20/24pin, about 30 minutes ago. Thank God I found out in time!! I hope 🙁 I'm sooooo glad I checked the card when it came.
