Hello,

My PC is now almost 12 years old. It's still working but I'd like to get a new one before it dies lol
I got great advice here when I bought it and it lasted me over 10 years so here I am again!

Approximate Purchase Date: Next few months. I could wait if there's some crazy new CPU generation or something like that coming soon.

Budget Range: Around 2500.00$ would be ideal but could go up to 3000.00$ for a nice build.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mainly gaming

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Anything in Canada

Location: Montreal, QC (Canada)

Parts Preferences: Never had anything else than Intel for CPU

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: High enough so that the GPU isn't bottlenecked

Additional Comments: Are Alienware desktop worth the price? Was thinking of buying a prebuild desktop to make things easier. something like this:

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:
Having trouble running new games with my current PC

Thanks :)

Patrick

but it should serve as a template. Smaller SSD for OS, launcher and apps. The larger drive is for your games library.

The prices will change in the next few months. So when you do decide to buy, come back for a sanity check. I'm sure this build will not be the ideal one in a couple of montns. It will need a few tweaks.

This is within budget, aiming at quality 1440p gaming. With a few options for higher quality components.

If you want a killer monitor, the AW2725DF is hard to beat. Does cost a lot though ($900-1000):
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product...725df-267-2560-x-1440-360-hz-monitor-aw2725df

A fancier case (FD Meshify 2):

The Montech is already good, but this is a nice upgrade.
The North is even nicer!

High end motherboard (Aorus Elite WiFi7 ~$350):
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product...-lga1700-motherboard-z790-aorus-elite-x-wifi7
This motherboard has a higher quality on board audio and a beefy 8+8, 90A VRM. That's useful for an i7 or i9 intel CPU and overclocking, but the overall increase in price is high for the performance gain.
It also supports faster DDR5 RAM and the faster WiFi 7.

If you opt for it, you pay a higher price and have a potentially longer lasting gaming PC. Quality of life-wise it's a good idea, but the 13600K + Eagle combo will only be marginally slower, at least for the next few years.
Is it worth it? If you don't mind the diminishing returns and can afford to stretch the budget then it's superior. Only problem is it's not THAT much superior. :/
- 13700K ~$450:

Lastly, there is a new generation of nvidia, AMD and Intel GPUs coming to market Christmas - Easter.
Doesn't really help you much; you could buy as cheap a GPU as possible while still getting some 1440p performance, so that you've still got a GPU budget for when the new ones to hit the shelves. But it's kind of a waste of money.
The 7900GRE is not expensive and it's perfect for 1440p, beaten only by the 4070 Ti Super.

If you want to go up to $3000, the motherboard and CPU upgrade is one possibility.
Trying to swing that Alienware QD-OLED monitor would be a pretty awesome, though it would go to $3100.
Gigabyte is alright for the money though:

Maybe someone can recommend a similar monitor with a slightly lower price?
