Hey guys, some of you might remember me or not, But I needed help on upgrading my current Hp Pc that had integrated graphics and wanted to get a new Nvidia GeForce Card and a New Power Supply..

Well alot has happened since then, Well Dell actually gave me a VERY good deal on one of there XPS PCs and I chose to get a better Graphics card with it and some other features. I literally went from 3-5 FPS on World of War Craft all the way to 50-60 FPS.

I was actually thinking of going with an Alien Ware PC but I needed this for programming as well...

So that leaves my Other Hp Pc whic was an old piece of crap lol.., Luckily one of my friends and his father are very good Techs and Programmers. So I asked him if He had any Graphics Cards and/or Power Supplys he could hook me up with..

So He came to my house and literally just gave me his old Water Cooled Alien Ware PC. He upgraded and changed alot of things but had problems towards the end when he got his new Macs.

I'll cut this short, we booted it up and where getting error messages. He changed everything except for the motherboard and still had the same issue..

I still need to get a different power supply because the one he gave me in the PC doesnt fit in my old one..

1-Im trying to figure out which Radeon Graphics Card he gave me because he also forgot, and how much I could get for it and what do they go for now.

2- How much could I get for everything If I parted it out.
( He Told me to keep what I need and then I can sell it)

^ Thats the error message I keep getting, I just tried postng the pictures as a reply to this thread but, it didnt work..

You created your account back in June, but you never confirmed it. You should have received a confirmation e-mail back then from Tom's Hardware. Since you never confirmed your account, certain functionality (such as posting images) are not options you can use. I don't know how long you keep your old e-mails, but check your old e-mails and the junk folder from that date and see if the confirmation e-mail is there. If not, you can create a new account or just post the image links as text like so: http://www.askajedi.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/toms-hardware-logo_t.jpg

I swear I confirmed it, honestly lol. I got 1-2 emails when I first created my account...

Does this forum not have an option to be able to send a re confirmation email?

Thanks for your help you guys!

Seriously? I just talked to my friend and he personally bought the graphics card brand new and spent a pretty penny on it lol. But he just cant remember what type of Radeon Card it is..

Ill tell him you said its a Geforce and ill see what he says..

Yea I was actually thinking about purchasing a motherboard to just Use the AlienWare Pc. Then I wouldnt have to fix my crappy pc. Yea I could use that graphicscard and buy A 400w Power Supply, but I think the AlienWare would be alot better then my Hp that was made probably before that ALienware was lol

In the image of the back of the graphics card, the top sticker shows "vcggtx650xpb". A quick google search shows that to be the PNY Geforce GTX 650. So unless he swapped the stickers on the back of the card, that's what it is.

One thing I did note about the motherboard is that it appears to be an Extended ATX (E-ATX) form-factor motherboard. This motherboard will not physically fit within a standard ATX form-factor case. You need to make sure you HP case can accept an E-ATX motherboard.

Hmm, you do have a VERY good point Wolf.

I was thinking about using the AlienWare Case instead of transferring the graphics card to my Hp Case and getting a new power supply.

Were thinking that the only thing wrong with the AlienWare set up is the motherboard since everything else was changed but that. Once my friend replies back to me ill be able to tell you guys what the error codes/message was when he/we would try to boot the AlienWare Pc up.

Even though the AlienWare seems old, alot of the internals where replaced. There isnt really any good with the Hp Pc, everything is out of date so I dont think it would be better to Use the Hp even if I changed the Graphics Card and Power Supply.

A Mother Board is more expensive then just getting a 400-600w Power supply, But the AlienWare is going to be better in every way and last alot longer In my opinion..

I do think that IF, I decide to just get a new motherboard and run the ALienWare Pc im going to disconnect the Water Pump. I think there is actually enough cooling to keep everything at the right temp. Plus I wont run all the LED lights that the case has..

I really don't see changing out just the motherboard as a good investment. I could be wrong here, but given that it still has an IDE port, I'm guessing it's quite old. This means the processor and RAM are also both pretty old and probably out-dated as well.

IMO, at a minimum, you're looking at a Motherboard, CPU, and RAM kit. I'd probably salvage the graphics card, hard drive and optical drive (assuming both are SATA). The case and power supply are questionable at best and I would only use them if it were absolutely necessary (I'd probably drop $20 on a cheap case before using the Alienware).
