Hello there!

I have had a laptop handed to me by family to repair. The SSD's were shot so I replaced them no problem. I put it back together and was preparing to reinstall windows when there was a strange vibrating noise coming from next to the battery. I opened it up and saw the part that was causing it but I have no idea what it is!!

Does anybody know what the part circled in the image is? (sorry for the small pic.)

Thanks in advance!

What is the make and model of the laptop? it would look to ether be a speaker or a subwoofer
That would make sense!

It's an MSI GS70 Stealth.

Unsure why it is giving it full beans on windows install though. Perhaps I can just unplug it and go without the bass.

Thanks for the assistance so far. I'll have a look into it!

Ok solved, but I'll write it up should it be useful to someone in the future.

It is indeed a subwoofer. The noise is actually due to the fact the battery has died, which I have now discovered. It's feeding AC voltage into the Sub causing it to fire constantly.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
