Hi, i currently have:

CPU: Q6600 @ 3.0 ghz stock cooling
MOBO: EVGA 650i Ultra
GPU: EVGA gtx 260 core 216
PSU: Corsair tx650w
HDD: 160GB
RAM: OCZ Platinum Revision 2 4GB @ 899 mhz

I got 600 to spend on and I'm thinking of going sli. But is it the right way to go? Is there any other thing that is better to go rather than sli?

here are my choices:

MOBO: Asus p5n-d http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131232
GPU: EVGA gtx 260 core 216 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.162339
PSU: Corsair http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009&Tpk

will my upgrades work? Is there any other psu that is much cheaper but can still support my rig?
Thanks!

Man that's a tough one. Personally, I'd save the money and upgrade in about a year. What can't you run with the single 260 as is?

I dont know, with the way things are going, by the time you would really see the benefit of your future proofing strategy, another in-expensive single card solution will be available to fit your needs.

But I know how it is, so do what you want, i just built a new PC and im already thinking about future upgrades :)

You could get a sweet storage setup. (SSD for OS and programs, VelociRaptor for games, WD black for media / game images / ect). That's what I'm doing and we have a similar setup ( E8400 / 48701GB ). I was going to get a 2nd 4870, but I figure, I run all my games max at 1680x1050 so why waste? Not to mention DX11 cards not being too far down the road. But thats just me. :)

If I had $600 to spend right now, I spose I would get an I7 mobo, cpu and memory.

A Core I7 mobo that is SLI and X-Fire capable would give options down the road. Who knows where the graphics market will lead? Besides you have a capable graphics card right now.....

I know this will be a tad over $600 but not that much.
