Need help to recover data from deleted partition

Help needed urgently.

I recently got fed up with my nvidia graphics driver on windows 7 so i decided to install xp. so i did. i chose to install windows xp on c drive. and i formatted that drive and installed xp. so after the installation i decided to install my graphics driver which i had copied to d drive earlier on windows 7 so i didnt have to download anything after. So i opened my computer in windows xp to navigate my way to d drive, only to realise it was not showing up. So i opened disk managment and noticed it wasnt showing up either. it did not even detect that had unallocated space or and empty drive or anything. it only showed c drive where i installed xp. So i wass a lil peed off about it. and i reinstalled windows 7 and now i can see the drive in disk managment. I then created a simply volume and now i have nothing on that drive. So my question is. Can i recover my data? Is there any program (free specifically) that can recover data from a deleted partition? if so can someone please provide a link. because i have photos i cannot loose and i have many games and many many music and i also have a lot of movies and all my documents on that partition that i cannot loose. I have not put any data on d drive. all i have done was format the drive so i could see it in exploere. i will not put anything on that drive just in case i overwrite anything. thanks for you help people much appreciated

I deleted my entire MBR once and got every last file back by booting into Ubuntu from a flash disk (because you should minimize use of the drive you are trying to recover data/partitions from) and using a software like Testdisk. Here are a couple good tutorials you can check.

The one thing you have to be aware of however is that the more you mess with the drive by installing stuff, the less likely it becomes to recover lost data because it is being overwritten. Any time you delete data or a partition, it is not actually gone from the drive, but only the flags that reserve the hard drive sectors where those files live on the drive. You can use apps like the above for recovering deleted partitions, and apps like Recuva or Restoration, etc.

Important note!
Whenever you are trying to recover data from a formatted drive or partition where you deleted files, it's absolutely CRITICAL that you do not write ANYTHING to that partition. ALWAYS install your recovery software on a separate partition or thumb drive. Otherwise you could be overwriting the data you're trying to recover.

I'm having the same problem, so I tried The Minitool's Lost Partition Recovery, but I can't store the data anywhere. I only have C partition, my Local Disk D partition got accidentally deleted. I have only one hard drive in my laptop, and no external drive. The software won't let me save the files on the existing hard drive, because I only have the C partition, which is too small. Please help :/

DevITIS, I need to know if you can help me.

First, I had 2 partitions in one disk.
1 was the OS and the 2nd was the partition for personal files. I bought an SSD drive and no longer needed a partitioned HD.
Well, in windows disk management i´ve just extended the partition (the personal files extended to the OS), but it became a DYNAMIC partition?
Then I deleted it and created a simple volume, the system asks to format it but I didnt permitted. Now i can´t access my files.

Well, I know I messed it, but can it be recoverable? I think all the files are the, only need to be find.

I would examine your drive with a disc editor, eg DMDE (freeware). Can you upload a screenshot of DMDE's Partitions window?
