My PC is long overdue an upgrade and I am looking for some help with this. It'll mainly, and only really, be used for gaming and my plan is to sell my current PC entirely and start from scratch, I think.

I'm not really looking to spend much (in comparison to what I've seen others spend) but around £1,500 would be ideal.

I built my current PC around 8 years ago I think, so am not up to date with all the new components out there. To be honest, I don't want to spend excessive time researching, and if someone was to suggest a build, I would probably go with it fully without much research.

Not sure if it really matters, but my current specs are:
  • Intel Core i5 6400
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
  • ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC, H110M-K
  • Corsair CMK8GX4M2A2400C14 DDR4
  • Corsair CMK8GX4M2A2400C14 DDR4
  • CT500MX500SSD1
  • TOSHIBA DT01ACA200
  • Optix Mag27C
  • Case: https://postimg.cc/4YLfBrZT
  • PSU: EVGA 500 80 Plus
  • Specs: https://postimg.cc/4K214NgF
Currently I'm limited - due to my specs - to mainly play GTA V and PUBG, even at that quite laggy! I would like to add games such as RDR2, Forza 5, Assassins Creed to the library once set-up with new PC and actually be able to play my current games lag-free!

I live in the UK.

Any help is much appreciated!

The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for a rear exhaust fan.

Thank you so much. I'll probably be, more or less, going with this build if this is the only recommendation I get - looks like a solid build. I will check back in the morning and update!

Cheers

There's a Gigabyte 180Hz monitor for just a few quid more. The reason I say that is because you can expect that build to hit an insane amount of FPS on PUBG.

i don't see anything wrong with the build either. i'm sure we could nit pick ram and such shifting a few bucks here and there, but it's rarely worth it unless something is glaringly wrong.

i don't know anything about that psu which is the only thing i'd spend time checking reviews on.

tom's did a review of it

and they offer some better options, though they do say it is decent with only a few drawbacks.

Noted, thank you. The only con from the cons list I do understand is the increased noise, which doesn't sound... pleasant. Would you recommend an alternative?

Noted, thanks! Could you perhaps link the 180hz monitor too..?
I don't know much about this monitor so check the reviews on it.

@Why_Me,

Was just about to place an order for the CPU you had linked, ie, CPU: *AMD Ryzen 7 7700 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor (£296.00 @ Amazon UK), but noticed there is an X version of the 7700 for the same price - is there any point in going for this one rather than the non-X version? Just watched this and the X version seems to outperform the non-X version consistently?

At the same time, for a bit more £ there is also the Ryzen 7 7800X3D from the same amazon link. Same question - is it worth going for this one instead?

The non X uses less juice and runs cooler not to mention there's only a 1 - 2 FPS difference between the two cpu's.

@Why_Me,

Sorry to hassle once more, but instead of the memory you had suggested (Memory: *G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory), would this Corsair one work too?
Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) 5200MHz DDR5 RAM.

The G.Skill Flare one has a very long delivery time so just looking for other options..
You want CL30 seeing how games take advantage of low latency. Here's a set of AMD EXPO CL30 shipped by Amazon.

If the 7800X3D is within your budget, get it, it's currently the best gaming CPU there is.
As for RAM, you want 6,000 CL30 EXPO....although, the 7800X3D is less affected by slower RAM other AMD CPUs because it has so much memory stacked onto the chip.

Thanks! yeah, I wasn't sure at first but seeing as it's only £50 more than the 7700 - and as you say the best out there - I have went for the 7800X3D,.
