Question Need help with getting 144hz to work on BenQ Zowie XL2411

I bought a new PC about two weeks ago (the GPU only supports HDMI and Displayport) and today I got a Displayport - DVI Dual Link adapter to get 144hz. One problem though, I can't change the refresh rate at all. I can't even lower it. The adapter says it supports 1080p@144hz, it's also active and has Dual Link DVI. Is there a solution or will I have to just get a new monitor?

My GPU is a HP 3060 Ti (maybe a bit overkill for 1080p, but I was planning to buy a new monitor a bit later) The adapter link:
