[SOLVED] Need help with getting new computer

Hello!

I have an i5 4690 and when I play games like Apex Legends or Fortnite i have heavy fps drops which makes it really annoying to play. The cpu is too old to keep it up with 144fps.

Due to the insane pricing of the new gpus I would keep my gtx 1660 for a while.

My question is, which cpu should I get?

i5 11400f is 205euro for me.
i5 11600kf is 229euro
r5 5600x is 298euro

I dont plan on overclocking but since 11600kf its only 25e more expensive i should go for it rather than the 11400f right?
also can I not overclock the 11600kf and get a H motherboard instead of Z while getting same performance? (since the non Z are cheaper right?).
would be worth going for a 10700kf (283e)/ 11700(320e)??

I'd appreciate if i can have some suggestions for motherboards, get 3200mhz 2x8 ram? and what psu? and i guess pair that with ssd of 250 or 500gb and a 2tb hdd. And what about cooling? air cooling?

I dont play very demanding games but I would like not having to buy another one for another 4-6 years.

If you don't want to buy again for the next 4 or so years, then i'd highly recommend a fast 8 core processor if you could stretch your budget a little, something like a 3700x/10700/11700 are a pretty nice midpoint, they will be snappy and responsive, multitask well, game better and will last just that little bit longer as you have more cores and threads to handle everything from browser tabs to video games

Even something like a r7 2700x would blow your current cpu out of the water, they are really cheap to find nowadays by comparison and can be put on a cheap b450 with it's stock cooler, depending on what prices are like near you it might be a better deal

I can spend that extra money. Do the i7s work on those b560 motherboards? Do the K cpus perform better even if i dont oc?

The 11600kf runs hotter than the 11400F so make sure you have good cooling. That cpu has a TDP of 125w.

I have a nzxt s340 case which i think didnt have the best airflow. Would i need water cooling? Or with aftermarket air cooler its enough?

There's no good reason to purchase the 11600KF unless you plan on overclocking it and even then it's a waste of money imo. That cpu runs hot.


I'd run that build like this if its primary purpose is gaming and general internet browsing.

There's no good reason to purchase the 11600KF unless you plan on overclocking it and even then it's a waste of money imo. That cpu runs hot.

The i7 11700F is a decent cpu if you run it with the power limits off. You want to size up on your cpu cooler.

If you can, then i'd recommend it, buying a little more now puts off the time in the future when you will have to upgrade again, the cpu will be compatible with the same boards, i'm not an expert but i found some links to give you some more info, it seems if you are open to overclocking in future then the K variant is the one you want, with a decent cooler and good vrm on the motherboard, the boost clock speeds should be higher at base settings too, it also adds some more room to expand if you later want a better graphics card, more ram etc

As for everything else, 16gb of ddr4 3200mhz, in a 2x8gb configuration is most common, 750 watt bronze or higher from a good manufacturer, a nice m.2 ssd with super fast speeds would pair lovely with that motherboard and cpu combo too

A case with good airflow is best for temperatures, a few fans to keep the air flowing will impact the temperatures more than anything else

The only thing an ATX board has that the mATX board does not is an extra PCI slot that nobody uses ... otherwise those boards are pretty much identical. Cooling is all about the motherboard's VRM's and your cpu cooler. That Gigabyte board has 12 + 1 phase that's made to take the heat.

I posted on his review (youtube) as did many others. He tried to compare a $100 entry level B560 motherboard to a $200 B560 board. He's a schill and about the last person on this planet I'd ever get advice from.

last question, its not smart to use the ssd/hhd and psu im using now since they are 7/8years old and might "explode" one of these days right? xD

H/D should be fine ... replace the psu.
