I'm finally updating my gaming/all purpose desktop after ~5 years of faithful service and ran into an issue I haven't been able to find a cause for. The existing rig is a Q6600, 8800GTS, 4GB G.Skill RAM, Thermaltake 750W PSU, and ABIT IP35 Pro. Oh, and my monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster P2770.
My goal is to replace everything over the next couple of months, starting with the GPU. I bought a Gigabyte GTX 660Ti two weeks ago and swapped out the 8800 for it. While the card powered up fine and there were no error codes on the mobo, there was no video display either via HDMI or DVI. Swapped the 8800 back in with the same DVI cable and it worked just fine. I couldn't find anything online about the issue, so I just figured I got a bad GPU and RMAd it for a replacement. The replacement came in on Saturday and I installed it yesterday...with the same result of no video from DVI or HDMI.
Am I doing something wrong and my mobo/GPU/display don't play well together, or have I really gotten two duds in a row?
Any help would be awesome!
EDIT: I've verified that all cables and connectors are plugged into the right spots and are securely fastened. Still no dice with the 660Ti, but swapping the 8800GTS back in works as before. When I turn the computer on, it appears to boot up and the GPU fans spool up, too, but the monitor doesn't register a signal.
