[SOLVED] Need Help With Pc

i recently got a xeon e3-1230 v5 mid tower server that has a 290w PSU i also got a evga gtx 750 ti.tho it is reccommened to have a 300w PSU.i saw people online running it on PSUS with less then 290w.when i plug in the gpu the pc starts up but the fans start spinning really fast and nothing shows up in the display.i tried this twice and only let it run for 15-20 sec cuz im not rly geeky in pcs and was scared by how fast the fans were spinning.should i keep it running,or is this a bad sign?and i should consider buying a PSU.also there was a flashing yellow light both times after i powered it down.

The PSU should actually be okay. Does the server motherboard also have an integrated video device? If so, does it work?

What specific make/model is your motherboard?

nope theres no integrated video card the mobo is the dell 026g78

Is this a Dell PowerEdge T130? There should be a Matrox video adapter built into the motherboard. It provides the basic video functions most servers need for configuration.

Also, looks like the GTX 750 needs to be in Slot 2 to work properly. See page 23 of the manual for the server.

well it is a poweredge t130 but im not sure about the matrox adapter ur talking bout

Look at the manual linked above. There should be a VGA port on the back of the system. It is certainly not suitable for gaming or much beyond configuring the system.

Does your GTX 750 ti have an external power connection socket (6-pin)?

Will this system boot with the GTX 750 ti removed, using the on-board video device (you'll have to connect your display to the motherboard video port on the back of the system)?

it does boot without the gpu and works fine i am currently on it rn and the 750 ti doesnt have a external 6 pin connector

Are you certain the GTX 750 ti works? Have you tried in another system?

im using the vga at the back. and i have windows 10 installed

Is Windows 10 updated? Also, when you did have the GTX 750 ti installed and connected to your display, could you see anything? Assuming the answer is yes, did you ever install the Nvidia video drivers?

windows 10 is not updated and i only let the system run for 15-20 sec cuz of how fast the fans were starting to spin.the screen was black

Digging through some Dell Forums, it seems others have asked similar questions. Dell "officially" only supports GPUs when they are used for compute (not display) functions.

One forum entry indicated a user with a GT730 that worked fine, but caused system fan speeds to get quite fast and loud. Sounds similar to what you mentioned.

well the 730 uses 49 watts and the 750 ti 60 watts does 11 watts rly make a difference if so then a 1030 should be gud right and lastly if it doesnt support for graphics then i guess im screwed rip

It does seem that 11 watts, at the PCIe slot, can make a difference. If you can find a GT730 or 1030 and try it, it would confirm the issue.

ill try going to the store tom and check a 1030 if it works there ill just have to see i guess
