Need help with some PC Upgrade decision making.

Well I'm one of those AGP holdouts. I really want to do a upgrade but money is nothing I spend freely. I have a couple scenarios in my head on what to do. I would truely appreciate advice on what should I do. First off, here is my current setup.

Soltek Nforce3 754 socket motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ chip
Sound Blaster Audigy
450 PSU
PNY 6800 128 MB AGP
2x512 sticks of Kingston Valueram
NEC DVD burner


I'll start with this. I can upgrade the card and the ram. Get some XMS 2x1gb sticks worth. Then pickup that 7900GT AGP card.

I figured this would give me a solid 2 years of life adding on my premium PC gaming life. OR is it just a waste of dough. Also, would I see the benefits if I just upgraded the ram? I have a lot of programs running in the background but I want them there.

You are on the right track. Just change your video card and memory. Then go ahead and place your order.

Lower latency, $5 less, works great.

I have that RAM and two of those videocards, they both overclock well. The RAM I'm running at 436MHz and the videocards I'm running at 570MHz/1720MHz.

Your upgrade option is good too, which ever you prefer.

(Also you need a powersupply for your new system)

Thanks for the advice. Though that card you recommended though sweet looking is PCI-E. I'm just a sad sad man with AGP. Unless that was your recommendation for a card for my full system upgrade then thanks!

Oh that ram looks good too. Better + Cheaper = a happy me!

get pci ex... even a non sli mobo, so you dont have to pay as much money

Well the reason I said AGP was because my old board was AGP. So it'll just be a Graphic card upgrade really.

OR I could have a complete system upgrade. The reason I was intrested in upgrading the AGP part is it'll be a good way to get some more longgivity out my current build. Then maybe 2 years from now upgrade fully to something that'll really be a super rig.
