Ok so right now I have a r7 260x if I upgrade to a rx 570 there will definitely be a significant improvement in performance, for example on a game like fortnite right?

Well, personally, I think the limiting factor would be your CPU.
You could try to get the i5-4XXX or K to overclock, but Im quite unsure is it worth it.
Also you can BCLK.

so you're suggesting not upgrading gpu but the cpu instead? and do you mean upgrading my cpu or gpu is not worth it?

I would suggest the GPU upgrade.
Doesn't matter how good your CPU is, that old 260x cannot get any faster.
The newer card you want (I guess you are buying second hand) will be faster, but maybe limited by your CPU, but for now, it won't matter, you can change the CPU later on
