I'm compiling a list of parts for a computer I'm going to be building in the very near future and I've decided on most everything except memory. My current planned mobo, CPU, and GPU are below:

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (In July after price cuts)
EVGA 8800GTX

I've read a lot about Corsair, Patriot, and Crucial being reliable brands, but I'm not sure on specific models in terms of compatability. I know I want DDR2-800/PC26400 memory, but that's about all I know. And that I'm looking for either 2GB or 4 GB capacity (as I am going to have Windows XP to start, but will upgrade to Vista later). This PC will be used mostly for games, with some everyday use as well (internet, office applications, etc.). Does anyone have any good (knowledgeable) advice? Thanks!

Are you overclocking? Yes, get the higher clocked RAM.
No? Get whatever's cheaper, as long as its at least DDR2 533Mhz.
Get some brand name stuff - search around the forum for the latest brands.

I'd start with 2GB and see how you fare with that. I have 2GB and its plenty even for my video editing. If you need more, you can always get more later.

if ur not oging to over clock 800mhz ram is a waste. if ur running stock just get 533mhz ram, it will best better then running at 800mhz if u dotn overclock ur ram. so any 533mhz ram will do, just go for wuts cheap. and if u plan on using 4gb, make sure ur using windows 64bit. regular windows(32bit) wont recognize 4gb.
