MSI R9 280x died on me so I need a new card. No overclocking will be done, no need for ultra graphics, no 4k, just something I can play comfortably on med/high. Games like Elder scrolls online, Post Scriptum, Battlefield and the like. Any opinions are appreciated.
Specs are as follows:

i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core
ASUS H-97 PLUS Motherboard
8GB DDR3 Cosair Vengeance RAM
Raidmax 600W PSU

Newegg won't deliver to Japan so I'm using Amazon Japan to search for a new card. Been looking at ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB OC Edition for $164 USD.

https://www.amazon.co.jp/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX1050TI%E6%90%AD%E8%BC%89%E3%83%93%E3%83%87%E3%82%AA%E3%82%AB%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89-%E3%82%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%90%E3%83%BC%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF-PH-GTX1050TI-4G/dp/B01M360WG6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&keywords=1060&language=en_US&qid=1546646020&s=computers&sr=1-4)

Or I could spend another $50 and get something like an RX 570 or 580. Cheapest 570 is this 4GB ASUS STRIX for $208 USD.

Solution
As you may already be aware, the GTX 1050 Ti would be a sideways move compared to your R9-280X. Maybe even a slight downgrade. Of course the extra VRAM will be nice for being able to twaek the graohic settings a bit more in certain areas.

The RX 580 >570 and is a step up from your R9-280X. That would be the better choice.
Is the GTX 1060 6GB in your price range?

Hi, thanks for your input. No, I wasn't aware of that. I'm forced to use my HD 5770 and at 11 years old, she's a tough gal but could explode at any time so I'm kind of in a bind. All those are within my range, just wasn't real sure about which deal was the best. Just checked another site here in Japan, ASRock
Phantom Gaming D Radeon RX580 8G OC (Radeon RX580 8GB) is going for $212 and a GTX 1060 AERO ITX 6G OC (GeForce GTX1060 6GB OC) is going for about $30 more.

Well... I'd never be one to judge another person's better deal. Especially when you are buying overseas. But the GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 8GB are pretty much equal (performance-wise) depending on the game. Those would be the two I would suggest choosing from with your Haswell CPU if you game at 1080p/60Hz. I have both of those cards, and can't tell the difference in most gaming. The AMD cards seem to produce a slightly better gaming display to my eye. But that is admittedly subjective. Used to be that AMD drivers lagged behind Nvidia in updates for new games and tweaks, but that seems to be in the past now.

It's rough over here. Products on Amazon Japan are much more expensive for the most part than they are on Newegg or US/UK Amazon. Guess they gotta jack those prices up to cover import costs or w/e. As far as AMD or Nvidia, I've always used AMD cards and aside from this past card dying, haven't had any issues but I've been wanting to try out Nvidia. The search continues. Ty for you advice!

Indeed. Pretty tough cards, mines been through hell and still works like a charm, no issues with heat or anything.
