May you please tell us your budget for this new graphics card so I could narrow down the results more. You may upgrade your power supply depending on what graphics card you get. Which makes it that more important to know your budget.

Yes you can switch, but you would just need to install Nvidia onto your PC assuming you still have space to do so. If you don't plan to use AMD again any time soon then you can delete it if you want but just to be safe i would keep it if i were you just in case the Nvidia card might go bad you'd have the spare AMD to back you up. If you plan to save that old card then be sure to wrap it up and place it in a box and store it away some place safe and sturdy.(you should wrap that old card is air filled plastic or bubble wrap to keep it safe if you intend on keeping it)

For the card i suggest a GTX 1060, you can find some on walmart and the Nvidia website for a decent price of $230-$300up. this card should consume about 150w-250w so i also suggest that you upgrade your power supply such as this one for only $50 and is 700Watts.(this is also on walmart)

The reason why i suggest that you upgrade your power supply is because depending on the amount and type of case fans you have they may require more power than the graphic's card at times due to either high amount of heat or high amount in impurities in the air flowing into your PC such as dust and other particles. Also your mother board will also drain power to feed the CPU and other components of your PC, Though i'm not rich these are just my suggestion and answer to help you in times of need. Though if you have a question just question back via reply.

(I prefer to order off walmart and legit store companies such as bestbuy, etc. because i know for sure they will deliver unlike ebay, amazon, and other online retailers)

Thanks for the answer, I'm looking to spend about $200-$250 on a card. I was looking at the GTX 1050 to be honest. What are your thoughts? Do you think I'd need to upgrade my power supply for it?

I found this on Walmart, this is a GTX 1060(better than a 1050) it is only $230.(without shipping fees) Though the brand is not known by many it does the job just as well as any normal GTX 1060 card, for this card alone don't let this company fame fool you. This version comes to a great cost with the same reliability and i also plan on buying this one too in a few days.

I had a 750 from them, they aren't bad at all. My only concern I guess would not to have to upgrade the power supplies. Do you think I'd be able to pull it off with my current PSU? Here are the details:

Form Factor: internal ATX
Total wattage: 460W
Nominal input voltage range:
100-127V/3A (50-60Hz)
200-240V/2A (50-60Hz)

does this normal range include the amount of power used with your fans active? And if so, is it all the fans?

Not quite sure to be honest, that's what I have for information on the PSU, not sure how to tell.

you should buy the card and try it if you don't know, if it seems sluggish or lacking in function then you can decide to upgrade your power supply
