Need some proof reading from the pros

Well I am ready for a new gaming rig...actually my first dedicated gaming rig, and this time I want to build it myself. Something a little future proof. Although never having done this before I need some proof reading of my component compatibility. So here I will list what I have in mind and any feedback is extremely appreciated. Also, feel free to suggest substitute components if you feel it will better the system or if there is a easy opportunity to cut cost without significantly affecting performance.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: the next couple of weeks

BUDGET RANGE: 1200 - 1300 USD

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming (WOW, COD, etc.), adobe photoshop (nothing extremely intense), regular PC use (web browsing, excel, word, etc.)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: I pretty much need everything

You could use this motherboard:
ASUS P6T SE
It is an LGA 1366 motherboard that will match your LGA 1366 i7-920 cpu.

The RAM memory you selected will be incompatible with the motherboards required for your i7-920 processor. You need 6GB (3x2) of triple-channel DDR3 at 1.65 volts or lower.

If you're going with the i7 920 you should be looking at triple channel kits. No sense get 2 sticks when your board will support them in sets of 3.

I dont think it makes sense to get the widest case possible (HAF 922 is 10 inches wide) and put an overpriced small 92mm cooler on it. You have room so go with a Coolermaster Hyper 212 or Xigmatek Dark Knight. If you are going with a 92mm the Coolermaster Hyper TX3 at $20 makes alot more sense.

Getting CAS 8 or 7 RAM would give you a small performance boost and more overclocking options.

This 23 inch 1920x1080 monitor at $169/free shipping is a great deal right now.

Agree with those who posted....

3 x 2GB - your latest choice is CAS 9 ....tops is CAS 6. For same price you could have CAS 7

Is the Hyper 212 (plus) really that big? I almost picked one up the other day. I've got a Cooler Master 310 mid tower, 7.5". Do you think I'll have a problem fitting it in there? Now I've got my doubts. I'm going to have to find time to grab a ruler and pop off the side.

well in that case would anyone be so kind as to suggest a motherboard and possibly some ram that may work with my current configuration with an i5 substitution as opposed to the I7 and a Radeon 5850.

If you don't plan to run CF/SLI I can recommend the Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2. It's a mATX, and it's priced accordingly. $105 right now on NewEgg (on 'sale' $5 off):

Going the P55/1156 route you'll also want to switch back to 2x2GB RAM. With an i5 750 you likely won't be able to run at 1600MHz without OCing your CPU. There's a strong case to be made for 1333MHz with tighet timings anyway. And very little real world difference.

Or if you like the Corsair you've already picked out, there's a $15 off combo for that and the GA-P55M-UD2:

so I decided to go with the original I7 build, but thank you to the individuals who suggested an i5 build. I still have a couple of questions before I finish placing the order.

First concerning the ram...

The original ram I was going to purchase ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381 ) is out of stock and I was wondering if someone could suggest a comparable item.

All the specs appear to be equal, although this will probably turn out to be a noob oversight.

Also could someone suggest a optical drive (doesn't need to play blu ray, just play and burn cd's and dvd's)
