I'm pretty sure my 1070 that I've had for about 8 years is starting to fail and or overheating. I've been having issues with my PC would automatically restart itself when doing things like simple video editing or playing World of Warcraft.

I ran Heaven Benchmark and the first the pc restarted itself within 20 sec into it so I shut down my pc checked the cables and even re seated it I did notice the gpu was pretty earm to the touch. I ran Heaven again and went through 3 passes no problem temp was around 66c but on the 4 pass the pc restarted it self, so it looks like its time to replace my 1070.

Unfortunately I only have around 300ish to spend so I have been looking at either a XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6600 CORE or a MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3050 8GB both are in my price range and both can handle 1440p gaming with medium to high settings which for fps I run my settings from fair to High settings since Warcraft is more of a CPU heavy game. I already know somebody is going to say save up and vet a newer gpu well that was the plan but I don't know how much longer my 1070 will last.

So out of the 2 which would be if anything similar to the 1070 while I know these 2 will be a slight faster and has more bells and whistles than the 1070?

SYSTEM:
I7 12700kf
MSI Pro Z690 DDR4 MB
36gb 3600MHz RAM
650w PSU
1440p 27" 144hz Monitor w/ G Sync (Which don't necessarily need a GPU w/ G Sync)

Did you rule out your PSU being the issue? A system restart would be due to two reasons;
1| an overheating issue
2| the PSU is incapable of delivering power to the system when taxed.

MSI Pro Z690 DDR4 MB
BIOS version for your motherboard?

Unfortunately I only have around 300ish to spend
Where are you located(and effectively informing us of your currency)? What is your preferred site for purchase?

650w PSU
650W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the make, model and age of your PSU?

You forgot to mention the make and model of your case.

Its a XFX 650w Gold (6-7 years Old)
Case is a Corsair 5000D

That is a fairly old unit, iirc. I would start with a new PSU, as you will need one anyway.
Yeah that was the plan for next purchase until I ran into a this issue so will definitely get a new one first to see if that fixes issue if not then I'll be figuring out of the 2 is a better gpu a friend of mine had said it could be the psu since I'm not getting a screen of death and the PC just restarting so we'll see from the info I looked up one of the issues that can cause a PC to restart is a failing gpu

Have you thought about stripping and repasting the GPU?

You can also check the windows logs to see what the cause of the crash was. A GPU can 100% cause this kind of crash though the 7800XT had an issue with it.

If the PSU is fine then it doesn’t need to be replaced. It’s not like a 1070 and a 12700 os close to redlining the PSU and at most it’s been operating at 50% capacity most of its life.
Thats the problem don't know if it is fine. Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago when I went to do a simple video cutting thats when the problem first started now its even while gaming I had planned on upgrading the PSU anyway so I'll start there $100 for a new PSU is alot cheaper than a new GPU. I do have my i7 12700kf OC'd to 5.0 @1.30V so it is drawing a little more power than normal

Not sure what stripping and repasting is but I did re seat it change Display ports and checked the psu cable to it and still had the issue only thing I saw in the logs at the time of the restarts is Windows didn't shut down properly
