Wild. I used Nero to burn a couple of DVD's just the other day ... 2 days
ago, I believe.

I just went to burn a freshly-created disk image and the "burn" toolbar
icon, and menu entries are disabled.

Does anyone have a clue what's causing this? I've rebooted. I've
reinstalled the update I downloaded a short while back (nero6603). Right
now I'm stuck! 🙁

Anyone?

Nick

Thanks, but that's not the problem. I have 2 DVD burners, I've tried
selecting each.

The burners work, as I did just burn an image with RecordNow, but that's not
quite the same. I need Nero back. Nero "info" told me my ASPI install was
corrupt. I updated it, and now it tells me it's working ok (which is what
allowed my previously dead-to-the-world RecordNow install to work, I
believe).

Another reboot after the ASPI fix and still the burn button is unavailable.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Nope. I've been resisting, as I've heard of too many problems. And I've
been working Just Fine. Well, until now. This is just too weird. I hate
when things that have worked forever just stop working.

Thanks for the reply,

Nick

Too many problems with SP2? I've been using nero with SP2 since it was beta
and never had any issues/problems burning with nero. They just released ver
6605 2 days ago. Might try running that patch to see if it will fix your
problem. Are your burners being detected as such in device manager. I've
heard stories of drives either being wrongly identified and or getting set
to PIO instead of DMA and that causing various problems.

Hi gang,

Thanks for all of the suggestions, but I have to chalk this one up to user
stupidity :). I was preparing to write Ahead Software this morning, so I
went through some basics to include in the email. I tried preparing a CD
image, and the burn icon was enabled. I switched to a data DVD, and again,
it was enabled. So I checked ... DUH!

I had set up a DVD Video layout, and when it wouldn't allow me to burn it, I
saved it to disk, finished out, reloaded, loaded the layout, and still no
icon to burn. I did this each time I tried, reloading the saved layout each
time.

Turns out I had the layout all screwed up. I had added all of the video_ts
contents into audio_ts, and Nero was smart enough to know I didn't have a
valid DVD image. I just wish it would have told me that in a more precise
fashion.

So, I'm back ... it was user error. Sorry, but thanks for the support!

Nick
