nero burn problem

I recently picked up an Asus 7N266 and installed it with a amd xp2000+ and 256 mg ram along with a dvd player, cdrw two ibm harddrives, asus t2 display card and Audigy gamer. I loaded Win Xp pro. I also loaded the latest version of nero burn. When I click on Nero burn the computer does a full reboot. What maybe causing this?

Turn off "Reboot on error" and post what the error message is.

CD copying software and antivirus software are notorious for using the wrong 'hooks' to get to the hardware. When there is an OS upgrade (to XP for instance) the hooks become dangerously invalid. Be sure you are using the latest version of nero and double check for a patch.

I've been running Nero 5.5.7.2 on XP with with out a problem however there are a couple things you can try. Go to the windows update and get the patch for CD-RW's and the one for application compatibility if you haven't already

You can also try disabling the built in CD recording functions of Windows to do this go under[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
add a Value of: NoCDBurning and set it to 1.
