Hello,

I have some sort of issue with the .NET Framework.
I have a black box that keeps popping up. It comes and goes very quickly and it happens every couple of minutes.
One instance where I notice it happens is when I plug in my laptop after it has been unplugged for some time.

I tried many things to fix it, from running Sfc /scannow, / RestoreHealth, NetFxRepairTool, updating/disabling the framework, deleting temporary system files...

Nothing seems to be working.
How can I fix this?

I was able to capture a couple screenshots

Thank you! 😊

Solution
black box... command prompt

how can you tell its .net? nvm, i see - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/tr...mework/install-assembly-global-assembly-cache although I am not sure what its doing.

it might be showing what its doing in event viewer
search for event viewer
when you open it, in left column click on Custom Views, then Administrative events underneath it
expand window so you can see middle column
there may be a lot of warnings and errors in here but most can be ignored as they are one offs, but it may show us something when the event next takes place
event id make it easier to search.

it appears to be tied to your roaming folder. but I can't really tell from what you captured as 2nd screen looks like...

Hi, thanks for your answer.
I honestly don't know if its .NET, I thought it was cause I found some similar issues on the web (none of them solved) and that is how they were calling what is happening to me. I might be probably wrong.

I tried the above steps by triggering the event when plugging in my laptop, but unfortunately it wasn't logged as an error.

I've been trying to get better snapshots but the event is so unpredictable and fast that is really hard to capture.

Have you looked in scheduled tasks, it might be an action performed when you plug in laptop

i wonder if its anything to do with sync settings
go to settings/accounts/sync settings
turn it off and see if it makes any difference.

its your cloud profile. So maybe. just checking

I tried but it is still happening 🙁

When I plug in the laptop I normally just get the first screenshot I sent, then when using it I randomly get other prompts, sometimes even when the laptop is still and I am not performing any actions, it just pops up.

I read someone having the same issue and the got recommended this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/wi...and-runonce-registry-keys?redirectedfrom=MSDN
I am not sure what it is as Im not so good at computer so I wouldn't know what to do

does it happen in safe mode?

  1. go to settings/update & security/recovery
  2. under advanced startup, click restart now button
  3. this restarts PC in a blue menu
  4. choose troubleshoot
  5. choose advanced
  6. choose startup options
  7. click the restart button
  8. choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
  9. Pc will restart and load safe mode
its obviously windows but is it being done as a windows task or a process run by a program, thats why I asked about safe mode

if it doesn't happen,
Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

try making a new local account and see if it happens on it - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...ndows-10-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d
