Someone please help!!!!!! I gonna throw this laptop out the window!!

A friend asked me to 'clean-up' his daughters laptop. Easy enough. However, every time i reboot i get:

Required System Software Not Intalled
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 is required to continue.

The laptop has Windows 8. I made sure the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) is turned on. I've also tried a bunch of DOS suggestions. But the damn thing won't turn off.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

Reinstall .Net 3.5, use this nice tool.

Hey, thanks for the link. Gave it a try, but still a no-go. this is extremely vexing. any other suggestions.
