How could Netflix block perfectly good TV ? so what if it's older than 10 years? Another Big Brother?
From October 16th I've been having this message on our Panasonic Smart TV:
"Netflix is no longer available on this device"

I know we could get a streaming device, but I don't want to, as we hardly watch TV,
We are paying for Netflix and would like them to restore things back as they were.

I don't know why they do but you have piqued my curiosity, so please eleborate.

When the lightbulb was first invented you bought one or two and then never needed one short of an incident/accident. They didn't blow out for a long long (long) time. The manufacturers realized this was not a sustainable business model, so they designed in failure at a rate that would keep the doors open.

I'm not dumping a £500 working TV for the sake of Netflix
I fall in the grey area as well , I deal with what is now not supported anymore and find a solution. I get it, to hell with them I paid for this and it should dam well work till it dies. I feel the same. BUT

Like mentioned the fire stick is your best bet. See you screwed the TV manufactures as you side stepped a whole new TV with a $30.00 fix.

If you are a software developer, you find yourself having to make difficult decisions when it comes to supporting older platforms.
If you “leave it alone” then you are holding back new features and better security for everyone else on newer platforms.
If you maintain a separate code base, it starts to get expensive.
If the Smart TV manufacturer stops supporting their platform, things get even more difficult.

Imho the concept of a Smart TV is flawed in the first place. The TV should just be a screen, and the Smart functionality belongs inside a separate box or stick that you can replace every now and again at minimal cost.

Same here.

3+ years ago, looking for a non-Smart TV. 40", for the bdrm.

It was tough to find. The only one I could find was a Sansui model that was already 2 years out of date.
Works for me, and is hanging on my wall.

Paramount+ requires WebOS 4, my 'Smart TV' is a little too old, WebOS 3 or whatever. The App isn't compatible but all others are, Disney+, Stan, Netflix etc well soon Netflix won't be i guess but that doesn't matter. Using Chromecast with GoogleTv and can still use TV remote with it.

I may be annoying or stubborn, Netflix is a powerful company, I know I have 3 solutions, but the fact remains that according to Netflix my perfectly working TV is obsolete.
I of course tried to update TV Firmware, I also looked if Netflix have any updates that can help.
As you could see here, with credit to USAFRet, they do not offer an explanation, and that's not a good sign.
