anybody who is moaning about the fact that netflix doesn't have every movie ever doesn't understand the concept of netflix. It doesn't aim to have every movie ever.
10 years ago would you walk into your local video store and shit on the desk because they didn't have a copy of "Old Yeller" and it was a movie that was made at one point in time?
If you want a copy of whatever movie you can't find on netflix, then buy a copy of that movie. They don't and simply can't have a catalogue of every movie ever released. Yeah it sucks when we couldn't watch Gremlins on halloween, but guess what, the video store didn't have it either, and they would have charged us half what it costs for a month of netflix to have one movie for 3 days.
It's apples and oranges. Netflix is more akin to a television or cable replacement for the passive movie/television watcher. I can sit down at my leisure, browse around until I find a show I want to watch, and watch it. It does suck that they don't upload the shows soon after they are aired (it would be awesome if that changed) but just as you would have to wait for a movie to clear theatres before being released on DVD, you have to wait for TV shows to finish their run of the season before appearing on netflix.
It's not at all a bad service, but it's not perfect. It has, however, replaced our cable and cut our bills down a fair bit without any overall loss of convenience in our lives (and on the flip side, the chance to watch entire SERIES of shows, old and new, at our leisure.)
