Hi all,

So basically I am running a Far Cry 2 dedicated server on my laptop that is connected to the WiFi.

And I have a DSL Modem and Router. My desktop and laptop connect to the Router.

So here's my problem,
every time I want to join the server, it won't let me. But other people can join without any problems.
Also if I connect my desktop to my DSL Modem I can connect to the server with no problems.

And I have tried connecting the laptop both through WiFi and using an Ethernet cable, still can't join it.

I would stay with connecting my desktop to DSL Modem, but if I do that, I can't see my laptop that is connected to the Router.

So does anybody have a solution or know of a setting that I must change in order for me to join the server? Or why I can't see my laptop on the netwrok when I connect my desktop to the DSL Modem.

It is surprising you can even connect your desktop on the WAN side of your router and make it work. Normally you are only allowed a single IP unless you are running your dsl modem as a router.

Rather than dig though this I am going to guess your problem is related to your server having 2 different IPs in effect. From the outside world you are using your real ip, inside your house I suspect you are using 192.168.0.x or something.

What you are going to have to do is trick your desktop into going to your laptop internal address. If you are lucky you can just put in the 192.168.xx.xx address and it will work. If not you are going to be dependent on the game itself for a solution but this is a common issue.
