[SOLVED] Network Switch is slowing down Xbox Series X?

Router - Switch - PC, PS4 and FireStick

Before the switch is plugged in the Xbox has a download speed of around 40mbps and a ping of 23. After the switch is plugged in it's speed goes down to 3mbps and ping 180.

Have I set up something wrong or not selected a setting on the router settings?

More likely it is a bad cable or other traffic through the switch that is impacting. The uplink to the router is shared bandwidth and the WAN bandwidth is shared. The switch is a very "dumb" device. It adds 1ms at most.

What would you recommend I do to minimise the issue with the xbox?

All the switch does is add more ports to your router. It almost has to be one of the devices that is plugged into the switch using internet bandwidth.

The fact that the Xbox isn't connected to the switch at all doesn't matter, right?

Not in your case. If you had a large nas on the switch you were transferring data to from the xbox it would be better on the same switch so it did not pass through the router which would impact other users trying to get to the internet
