My non-gamer AM5 parts list. APU will work for me this go-round. Could always purchase a decent CPU and video card in the future.
What would of you done if given the same situation?
Left a little wiggle room for upgrading.
I decided USB4 in the future not today.

CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76 1.40V Intel XMP Desktop Computer Memory - Black (CMK32GX5M2B6000C30)

Corsair fest this build..

AMD Ryzen 7 8700G

ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI AMD X670 AM5

CORSAIR RM850x Fully Modular ATX Power Supply 80 PLUS Gold
CORSAIR 7000D AIRFLOW full-tower case
ID-COOLING FX360 INF 360mm Liquid CPU AIO Cooler
Samsung 2TB 990 Pro.
~$1100.00 for the completed purchase. RAM is not a great overclocker. I'll just setup Expo. No modern games, not worried about squeezing the last bit pee out of it.

If you’re on a budget and don’t care about max performance…if you’ve got Microcenter near you they’ve been running a special with an i7 12700k, board and 16gb ddr4 for 299. Might be worth considering and tossing in a little extra ram. Though I think they had a ryzen 7700, board and 32gb ddr5 for 400. So would be worth check those out.

My main PC I built about two years. RTX5950x, 3080ti FTW3. Waste of money for me. The three thermostatically controlled cooling fans rarely spin up.

No microcenters around Phoenix, AZ. I mix it up looking for the best price. Amazon and Bestbuy.
Amazon owns me.
I looked into similar options you mentioned. Yes, you can also go that route. Took me a while to make up my mind..

If you look hard enough on amazon, microcenter does sell bundle packages on there.

I built 3 CAD computers at work almost a year ago, and was able to pick up a 14700k with and Asus Prime motherboard on amazon bundled from Microcenter. ( This was right before Intel came out with their problem of self killing CPUs, but have done all the bios updates and haven't had any issues )

APU was a little luke-warm.. No PCIe5 or USB4 support. Adding a video card the 8700G would be a huge bottlenck.
Had a change of plans. Ryzen 9 9900x, GIGABYTE X870 Gaming WIFI6 and ASUS GeForce RT 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB GDDR6. So much for my budget ok at everything productivity PC.

Productivity/non-gaming pc doesn't need RTX 4070 Ti Super.
What sort of software are you running on it?
Nothing specific. Old man enjoying one of his hobbies. I usually end up giving builds to my with. She own an assisted living home. Slew of Windows 10 machine that will need replacing by mid-august. Guess I am the uncompensated tech support guy. Thanks for asking.
