So about 6 months ago I built a budget computer in the range of ~500 for a family member, and now someone else has a 7 year old computer and are looking for a replacement similar to the one I did before. The previous build as a simple i3 530, 4gb ram, 500gb HD, etc. nothing too high end or fancy and it works just great for the use.
The dilemna I have is whether to continue with the old technology of the i3 530 (which I personally like) or go with the newer SB i3 2100 or the i5 2300/2400.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next month.

----------------------------------------------------
Here is a build that I put together last night, pretty basic but just looking for some advice on it:
CPU/MOBO Bundle: Intel I3 2100 & Gigabyte H67MA-D2H-B3 H67 USB 3.0
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=59410&vpn=2100 & H67MA-D2H-B3&manufacture=Bundle Deals
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=57952&vpn=F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL&manufacture=G.Skill&promoid=1280
HD: 500GB 7200 RPM WD Blue
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?...X&manufacture=Western Digital WD&promoid=1280
PSU: Seasonic SS-350ET 350W ATX12V 20/24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 80PLUS
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=30144&vpn=SS-350ET&manufacture=Seasonic Electronics
Including Power cord, since OEM.
CASE: Antec 300
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=29812&promoid=1280
DVD Drive: Samsung SH-S222A/BEBE 22X Dual Layer DVD Writer Black IDE OEM
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=39427&vpn=SH-S222A/BEBE&manufacture=Samsung&promoid=1280
-------------------------------------
So after all the parts are totalled up it comes to: $413.22 and with taxes it would come to $462.81
Within my budget but still a bit of room to possibly upgrade, so if there are any better recommended parts of somewhere I could make an upgrade I would look forward to hearing any advice.
I could get a cheap video card for around 60 bucks, but as I say this computer will never be used for gaming aside from solitaire etc.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
