New build has black screen with graphics card

This is my first build and everything works great. Windows 10 64 Bit is up and running but when i use my graphics card (geforce gtx 1050 ti) the screen will display black. I can't download drivers or do anything on this black screen.

What do i need to do to get this working?

Are you plugging the video cable into the card and not the MOBO?

Yes, HDMI to DVI

My Monitor is ASUS VX238 LCD

So the system wont show the booting sequence on the monitor when using the GFX card but will with the onboard GFX?

When I use the gfx card it just displays a blank black screen.

And all the PSU cables are plugged into the according GFX card plugs too?

IIt's a powered by the motherboard so it doesn't have any place to plug in.

Did you say that you have a DVI to HDMI converter you're using when using the GFX card?
