Hi everyone,
I've just been building my new pc. At the stage when I had the motherboard, cpu and ram connected, I gave it a quick test to make sure all ok; it took about 30s for the yellow dram qled light to go off, which i think is quite normal for training, then went red and quickly white as had no display connected, so at this point i turned it off. Thinking all ok, i connected up the rest of the cables up, screwed everything to the case, turned it on and now all that happens is the cpu fan starts spinning. No qled lights come on at all, and I can't even turn it off with the power button, have to pull the plug out.
I've tried taking it back to how it was when it worked, ie unplugging header cables and sata drive, and also tried clearing the cmos holding a screwdriver to the two pins but still the same. Power cables seem connected, so I'm at a total loss what could have happened. I've tried loosening the cooler too
I have an Asus b650e-i, 7900x, ax120 cooler.
Is there any way of figuring what's going or whether it's the cpu or motherboard that's not working?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

I think we need a few more details about the build...

What is the specs of the memory kit you are using? If it's multiple modules have you tried with each module individually, and tried them in different slots?

I am assuming you are using a discrete graphics card? If yes, have you tried to boot the machine using just the integrated gpu on the 7900x (using the display header on the motherboard)?

It would also be useful to know what PSU you are using for the build?

I have 2x32gb corsair vengence 6000/30 .. but if problem with the ram I'd expect the yellow qled light to turn on? I tried them both earlier and worked.
No gpu card at the moment.
Psu is the corsair sf 750

Hi, sorry I hadn't noticed your reply until today,

That PSU looks good being platinum rated - certainly plenty for the system without a GPU,

The memory kit looks well within the recommended speed range for Ryzen 7000 series as well. Did you try with just a single memory module, if so any change?

The only other thing I can think to try is to flash the bios on that board using a USB stick (looking online it appears to support flashing from USB with just the PSU connected - whilst the board should support the R9 7900 out of the box as its the first generation of CPU for that board, an updated bios might resolve other stability issues so worth a shot).

Edit: Aside from that the only other option is to test the components individually in another board, if you can get hold of a compatible system.
