Question 7900xtx paired with 5700x3d

Hello

I've recently upgraded my system with a 7900 XTX and a 5700X3D.

I read in forums that the 5700 wouldn't bottleneck my GPU, but in my case, I'm getting 60-80% usage.

I tested with Battlefield 2042 at 1440p and 4K, and still, I cannot max out my gpu.
Avowed was giving me 40-50 fps in city.

I've tried reinstall all drivers and windows repair (don't want to do a full windows reinstall )

System specs
X370 gaming pro carbon
2 stick ddr 4 3200mhz
5700x3d
7900xtx
1440p monitor

Before the upgrade, I had a 5600X and a 4060ti .

Should run fine, the X3D cache won't be utilized in everything, so there may be bottlenecks in some scenarios, but overall it will be a great setup.

When playing Unreal Engine games, acceptable FPS are rare.

All UE games run far better under Linux.

If you have time to stick around, I can show you this personally.
But give me time to get a distro installed and notoriously bad to run UE games setup on Linux.

Best way to fix FPS hitching? :: Alone in the Dark Bugs & Technical Issues

Enjoying this game but it's not a smooth experience. Running on a 3070 GPU and while it's not unplayable there is random hitching throughout the game. Especially annoying during cutscenes. Does anyone know what could be the most draining on performance in the graphic options so i can turn it down?

It is an engine problem, not a hardware one, but under Linux the issue is gone.

I recommend using a gaming focused distro if you go this route, such as Nobara 42 or Bazzite since Fedora 42 is just a base distro and I had to manually add all the stuff needed myself to get up and running.

Any old games like Fallout, Skyrim etc all run worlds smoother under Linux also.

Played oblivion remastered and my gpu was up down up down 😅
