Hello there,

It's come time to upgrade my system. After about 7 years, I think it's time.

I'm wondering if there is anything I can salvage from my old build. What I'm wondering mostly is whether or not I can save some money by squeaking by with some of my old components.

My PSU is a corsair 850hx, and it seems fine. My case was a top of the end corsair case, so I don't have any qualms about reusing it. It's nice and big, but I can't find the invoice with the exact model.

I've been running an i5 2500k on a Gigabyte Gigabyte p67a-ud5, and I'm curious as to whether or not there are any more modern cpus that I can use with this mobo.

I'm currently running a 1060ti, which I may upgrade if I can save some money on other components. RAM needs to be upgraded, need another new(er) SSD as well.

Really, I'd like to not spend much more than $800.00. I don't have a lot of time to play games these days, so I don't need a top-end gaming PC, just something that is reliable for work that I can play games on when I have time. I'm not concerned with the best graphics/cutting edge games, etc.

Any tips would be appreciated. My gut tells me I will probably need a new mobo/cpu, but wanted to check with some other folks first.

Thanks,

Always list your specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

So your PSU is 8 years old...? If you currently have storage, you don't need to invest on that and if the case checks out fine, you're good to reuse it. We'll need specs to move forward though.
