Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my PC. When I turn it on, the monitor remains in sleep mode as if nothing was connected. I don't see any BIOS or Windows screen. If I go behind the computer, I can fiddle with the DVI cable (on the PC end) and eventually get a picture with Windows fully booted and working. It seems to be that I have to unplug/replug the DVI cable to get a picture. It'll work fine after that, but sometimes the picture then flickers on and off.

I'm not sure how to test which component is the issue here. I tried plugging in to the on-board DVI slot and had the same issue.

You have of course checked that the card is properly seated and connected, with correct drivers ? Then if the graphics card settings are within spec of the monitor, I would try the monitor on another PC, and the cable/plug on another monitor, just to rule out HW failure there..
I had a similar problem once...turned out the monitor was on the blink.

I reseated the card more than once, and I tried different versions of the driver just in case - still the same problem. I managed to get my hands on a spare monitor from work, and it did exactly the same there, too. I'm going to send the card back for a replacement.

For anyone reading with a similar problem - plugging it in to the second DVI output made a huge difference. It's not perfect but it's making my computer usable until I get a replacement.
