New built computer not booting properly with grahics card

I recently built a new computer and everything works fine, however once I plug in my graphics card (Gainward GeForce® GTX 460 1024MB "GS") and boot the computer the fans start spinning and I hear the beep for a good start up, but nothing comes up on screen and no interaction with the Hard Drive occurs.

Originally the computer worked with the graphics card but my screen would sometimes go black for about 2 seconds and then come back. After a while the computer randomly restarted and started having boot problems eventually leading up to the problem I have now. Also After I remove the graphics card and boot the computer without it I get a message saying that windows recovered from a hardware error. My OS is windows 7 64 bit, any help would be much appreciated.

sounds like your power supply cant output the power needed to turn the card on or there an issue with the card. have you tried putting the card in another pc??

The graphics card worked with my old computer fine, but it was a really old model 2003 MB and things like that. my new computer has a new PSU the Corsair gs series GS600 with 80 plus bronze certified, so i dont think thats the problem as it should have enough power to run it. (the Nvidia website says 400 watt is the minimum for my GPU).

with a newer pc check to see if the main mb has a video chipset. if it an ati chipset you may have to go into the bios and turn the on board chipset off. mixing to vidoe chipset sometimes dont work. if it an intel chipset go into the bios and make sure onboard gpu is the second video boot device..say peg then ipgpu. and your video cable has to be on the gpu video card.
