Hi
I built my pc around 5 months ago and for the past almost two months i've been having shutdowns ONLY when playing games. ( I can run games such as dishonored or killing floorfor about 5 mins on LOW before i get an immediate shutdown - not turning off, a complete black screen and system off.

My keyboard is connected to the PS/2 and the light on the keyboard still stays on. I have troubleshoot most components and i feel it could be the motherboard as the NB and SB heatsink get really hot as soon as it turns off. I searched about my motherboard online and others have advised me to remove the "bubblegum" thermal paste.

I have done this and replaced it with Artic Silver 5 but the issue still remains. After i type this i will check the thermal paste on the cpu cooler (i didnt check it before as the cpu temps read normal). I have never OC running literally out of the box.

If you need anymore information i can upload from HWmonitor or other such programs.

Thanks in advance! 😀

Too much heat, bad video card, bad power supply, sometimes the RAM or motherboard can cause these issues but rarely.

Test the video card in another system first, you can also test another power supply in yours and/or yours in another system. Just need to do it in a similar system. Won't do you much good to try to stick your video card in a low end business system with a 220 watt power supply then calling the card bad.

Thanks for all the help- i currently have two sticks of 8GB RAM installed. i tried taking one out running fallout. The first RAM i left in caused my PC to shut down as usual. However it seems it was the other srick which was faulty and my system is running fine with fallout 4 on ultra.
Thanks!
