New card to replace 9600 GT

Generally speaking GeForce cards use more power than AMD cards. On the low end it be about 25% more power.

The best card will probably be the HD 5750. Gaming performance is roughly between the GTS 250 and GTX 260 (closer to the GTX 260). All those cards are more powerful than the 9600GT. The HD 5750 consumes about the same amount of power than the 9600 GT (72w) while the nVidia cards consume more (GTS 250 is 113w, GTX 260 is 109w) under peak gaming conditions. That means the nVidia cards uses about 50% more power.

See following review which includes a "regular size" HD 5750 and a low profile HD 5750 (probably more fan noise due to small fans spinning fast).

The lowest priced HD 5750 is selling for $100 after a $10 rebate:

^ +1 to the above... ;)

It really helps to give details about your present system, PSU and CPU etc.. And please give a budget or you will get all sort of recommendations.

My cpu is an AMD 1055T
My psu is 550 Watt, but I don't remember the brand though!!!
Budget would be around $100/$150, $150 being a maximum
Like I said, I'm not a hard core gamer

I agree with most previous comments -- A 5750 or 5770 would be a good upgrade on the AMD side. A 450/460 would be the best choices on the Nvida side.

Any of these would be a significant jump up from a 9600GT. If you are looking to simply replace the 9600GT with a newer card of similar performance you could do so for like ~$70 or less.

If your not a hardcore gamer and you don't mind playing on medium settings then to save some money go for a 4850 or a 5670.'I do agree with going with a 5770 but if your a light gamer then maybe you should get somehting less powerful and save some money.Thats all of course if you want to,but games do like really good with a 5770or a 4850.

4850 $110=$80 after MIR + $8 shipping

5670$95 + $7 shipping

The 4850,imo,is the best choice because it's cheap but powerful and is equivlent of the 5770.
The 5670 is better twards a light gamer, has DX11 support(barely usable)and gives OK type of graphics. It is also light on power.

What is the resoultion of your monitor?
Could you check under the hood and see what the name/model of your Power Supply is plz?

That 5670 is twice of what I paid for my 8800gt, more than double of my 8800gtx (required new cooler and repairs) and nearly $30 more than one of my 1gb 9800gt. If you are going to consider any thing at that price point that you either aim higher. In the no matter what choice that you make you need to get the best card for your money.

I have been saying that for the past year and is one reason more why the 5750/70 were so popular.

I know 5770 is much better than 5670, but since I´m not a hard core gamer, is the 5670 a good possible option, or should I forget it ang go for the 5770?
And price difference is big too...........5670 is hal price of the 5770 !!!

I'm not sure if any of Nvidia's newer ranges from the 200 series onwards actually do single slot cards apart from the power efficient ones that may be no faster than what you already have.

What would be right now the best SINGLE SLOT card to use on a 24" screen (1920 x 1080) ?
I'm not a hard core gamer, but could play some games depends on what I could find.......
Would like to find something around $100

I have a 500W power supply (good brand I think but don't remember which one though)
I have a microATX card, this is why I want a single slot card
CPU is AMD 6 core 1055
