I'm thinking of upgrading my current system CPU and GPU with an AMD Athlon X4 760K and either a Gigabyte Nvidia GTX760 (£182.97) or a R9 280X. If the R9 280X is a better option please reccomend what type of non-reference card I can get. My current system is:

Motherboard Name: Asus A88XM-Plus (1 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Video, Gigabit LAN)
CPU Type : QuadCore AMD A8-5600K, 3819 MHz (38 x 101)
DIMM4: Kingston 9905471-035.A00LF 8 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (1 GB)
Power Supply: Corsair VS550

Also, would my PSU be able to handle the new components? The main purpose for this computer is to record gameplay and record skype/my own voice.
Thanks in advance!

If recording, it honestly depend on what you are planning to use to record. If you use software such as DXTory, I highly recommend you buy a very powerful CPU (i5 or i7) mainly because from previous experience, DXTory loves having an i5 or i7 to record since the game fps doesn't drop largely.

I recommend you buy a capture card instead of upgrading since its a better solution for your case, although I recommend you upgrade your GPU to a R9 280x first.

I've been using different non-reference cards for a long time, overall ASUS do the best but they do look pretty ugly but in the performance department they are great, I think they are called DIRECT CUII and you can get these models for AMD and Nvidia GPU's

thank you
