I have a ASUS P8H77 V LE mobo with a cor i3 2120 and 8gb corsair vengeance (2x4gb). i have been playing around with settings and found out that my ram was at 1333 which is ok for now because in my core 2 build i was using 4gb hyperx at 800 mhz. i was wondering if my hdd was the problem. i came to this conclusion because my windows index rating was lowest for my hdd. i have a Seagate ST3250820AS.

i wanted to know if upgrading to sata3 (WD5000AZDX) would solve the problem.

Thank you

could you go into details about 'feeling slower than core 2 duo'? which tasks feel slower? if it's about windows experience - it's not a good measure of performance. windows performance index favors ssds over mechanical hdds afaik.
core i3 2120 supports ddr3 1333 and your motherboard doesn't allow ram overclocking. that's why the ram is running at default 1333 mhz speed.
upgrading to sata3 won't fix any 'problem' concerning hdd performance. mechanical hdds can't saturate sata bandwidth.

opening any window is slower. the browser takes forever and it didnt do that before, using Chrome.
evrything just feels like something is holding it back
upgraded from a MSI G31TM-P21 with e6750 2.66ghz.
what else could be the problem?
and thanx for your response

Can be a virus, can be hdd. I suspect latter reason to be more probable. :) I always avoid putting any programs whatsoever in the same drive as windows(i.e.C:\). Anyways, how much RAM do you have?

i have 8gb of ram and havent really put anything on this drive yet so i doubt its a virus. plus i have mcafee running evrynight

thank you

I have the same motherboard and my guess is that your hdd and possibly your optical drive is connected to the grey 6 GB/s SATA ports, try and connect both to the blue 3 GB/s SATA ports and see if that helps.

Cheers

ended up doing a re-reinstall and it fixed it. delete formated and clean installed windows and its lightning fast now. but i was thinking about wether connencting my hdd to the 6gb slot would have affected performance in any way plus im going to replace my optical drive anyway.

thanx for all your help.
