New CPU Uprade

Hey all i currenlty have a Pentium 4 650+ (3.40) with hyperthreading cpu in my system

Would a Core 2 Duo at 1.8 show better performance and lower temps ??

and why

as i understand core 2 duo has two core but the HT one has two threads which is kind of duel core.

currently i am running

Pentium 4 650+ HT 3.40
X-Blade Black Case
ASUS P5N-E SLI
3 gig OCZ Street Camo Ram
2 x 9600gso 384mb in SLI
80gb Hdd with O/S Windows 7 professional
250gb Storage
680Watt G7 Power Extreme PSU

Standing now i have around £50 (roughly $60-$70 in us dollars)
to upgrade and i must admit my CPU SUCKSSS shows 4.1 - 4.4 on Windows Experiance Index , anyone got a opinion on a good CPU upgrade for that price ?

This is not going to be what you want to hear, but for US$60 - $70, there just isn't much that you are going to be able to do that's worth it.

you in luck since your board supports most core 2 cpu's but for £50 you could get an e5200/e5300

it will beat it since most applications dont use HT
