Question New CPU won't boot with bracket secured.

Putting in my new CPU in (i7 9700k) into my MB and at first it didnt boot so I started troubleshooting but nothing fixed it. After I took off my CPU cooler, and released the bracket, I tried booting it again but this time it actually worked. So it's when it's secured in with the CPU bracket that it doesn't want to boot. Could this be caused from something else? I've cleaned it to make sure it wasn't just the thermal paste but that wasn't the case either.

well at first i didn't, but for testing reasons I did.

You need a Z390 board to run a 9700k ...Sorry your board isn't compatible.

Did not take long to solve that....

you can't use a 9000 (or 8000 series, for that matter) CPU on a Z170 (or 270) board....

YOu need a Z390. (or a good Z370 with updated BIOS)

It will never boot or give a display as is

Your Z170 is capped at 7700/7700K, max....
