New Desktop Build - HELP!!

Hey. I'm looking to build myself a desktop computer. I've been using my old xps m1530 laptop, but I'm on a design course at uni, and it just doesn't run the programmes I'm using properly (Adobe Suite, etc..)

I don't have the faintest idea where to even start.

My budget for the build is about 450 - 500 pounds, not including a monitor. It'll mainly be used for fairly intensive graphic design work, and maybe gaming, although that isn't a priority.

Could anyone suggest me some decent setups/ ideas to get me started?

Phenom II X2 555 $100
Asus M4A87TD EVO $100
4Gb DDR3 RAM (Any company will do.) $60
Corsair VX550 PSU $90
Coolermaster Elite 334 $60
Radeon HD 5670 $80

This should just fit into your budget, if you want to you can look for a Radeon HD 3870x2 for $90 which gives better performance than the 5670 according to the hierarcy chart.
