[citation][nom]sidran32[/nom]So, I remember when IE9 was announced to only support Windows Vista and Windows 7, due to the Direct2D calls, and how everyone was calling it a ploy by Microsoft to force everyone to upgrade or lock out the XP users arbitrarily from upgrading (just like they did with DirectX 10, they say). Now Firefox is announcing that Direct2D acceleration only will work on Windows 7. So now what do you say?[/citation]
People always complain when companies stop supporting old hardware/software. People cried foul when companies stopped making PS2 ports of games when the PS3 was launched, when MS/Sony stopped offering backwards compatibility on new consoles, etc. There's always going to be someone that doesn't want to spend the money to upgrade, even years later, when it is completely reasonable for a company to stop offering support for its old products and focus solely on its current ones.
