So I'm upgrading my current rig:

AMD FX 6300 processor
Gigabyte GTX 960 4Gb GPU
8Gb RAM Corsair Vengeance (2x4gb)

This build has lasted me around 6 years with only an upgrade to the GPU.

I downloaded and installed (naively) Black Ops 4 expecting it to run. No...

So it's now time to upgrade. I have been looking at the following and any advice is welcome. I would like to run modern games at least on high.

Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8Gb
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
MSI B350 Tomahawk edition motherboard
MSI RX 570 Armor edition GPU

My budget it around £600 / 780 dollars tops.

I'm not sure on this graphics card so any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

A couple things.. go with the b450 and a 2600 as they should cost basically the same. As for the gpu it all depends on your budget the 570 is good and I recommend msi, all of mine have been msi and hold up well.

I currently have 2600, tomahawk 450, rx480 and runs everything 60fps+ maxed out.. the 570 is going to need like medium settings for 60fps in some games. The rx580 is the best card for the money in this tier. It should cost much less than a 1060 6gb and perform within 10% on average, but you should be able to pay like 30% less. I have seen 4gb 580s selling for like 200$ lately which is crazy good. Some will say get an 8gb or 6gb, but I play at 1080p and have not had a single issue with 4gb, but if you could pay say 20 or 30$ more it's probably worth it..

Unless your saving a decent amount of money go for the newer parts like I mentioned above. You will be able to keep them for years, it's worth spending a little more and should easily fall within your budget.. oh make sure to get a decent cpu cooler the stock one is poor for gaming and will let the cpu clear 70c. You can get good ones for like 30$, but you can add this later. The stock cooler is good enough to use temporarily, but I would upgrade it eventually.

Oh, not sure if b350 supports as high of memory, but the 450 has no problem running at 3,000mhz.. not sure if ryzen 1 benefits as much from faster memory and that could make it slightly more by wanting 3,000mhz vs say 2133.. I don't think prices are all that different currently they have dropped a little. 3,000mhz corsair vengeance 8gbx2 only like 130$
